A wide range of VHF collars / radio transmitters with different accessories like activity-, mortality-sensors / loggers are available to address your tracking needs. The system design most suitable for your particular study is dependent upon an equally wide range of application specific factors. All VHF collars are hermetically sealed and encapsulated in water-tight, electrical resin and delivered ready to use.
All radio transmitters are switched on or off with a magnet. VHF collars standard settings are:
Individual frequencies on request. To increase the lifetime, our radio transmitters can be transmit short bursts. Depending on the mode the burst length is then 6.25 or 12 ms. Some receivers have problem with short bursts and not enough sensitive for short signals. If we would increase the burst length (e.g. 20ms), it could be possible that your receiver will be more sensitive! VHF collars are deliverd with external or internal antennas, depending on the customer individual requirements. The VHF collar tracking range is 2-8 km, depending of settings of the radio transmitter and external factores, like topography etc..
